Cake Affair

Frequently asked questions

  • What are your prices?

Prices vary depending on design and size but start from £75 for the very simplest of designs however the cost will reflect the time and skill required to create your design. For theme cakes the starting price is generally around £100 and for cakes that require modelling these would usually start at around £140. Each cake is unique and made specifically for you so the cost will be dictated by your requirements. All start with a phone call/email, a discussion on design, perhaps some research in the design subject before your cake is personally baked by us and your design brought to life. We will promise you quality, originality and a genuinely good level of customer service because we really do care.

  • Do you freeze cakes?

No, definitely not it’s just not our way, every cake is baked fresh by us, but that means we have to limit the number of cakes we can do in any one week. We need to make sure we have enough time to work on the detail of every single cake.

  • How much notice do you need?

Ideally a minimum of 2 weeks, but the honest answer is order as early as possible to ensure we can fit your cakes in to our diary. However some of us aren’t always that organized, it’s always worth a phone call to check as sometimes we can fit in a late order with only a few days notice, especially if it’s a simple design. If you know you would like a slot secured but are unsure what you would like in terms of design email us directly we can secure your date with a £50 deposit.

  • What if I’m not sure on design yet?

If you just can’t decide yet what you would like, you can secure your slot with a £50 deposit allowing you plenty time to think about the design or drop us an email or call with some details and together we can come up with a few ideas to create a design which will suit the recipient perfectly.

  • What flavours can I have?

There are many to choose from but any flavour other than the standard sponge with vanilla buttercream will incur a surcharge starting from £10, options include chocolate, red velvet, toffee, lemon, orange, raspberry & white chocolate, chocolate marble.

  • Do you deliver?

We are only able to offer delivery on wedding/corporate orders.

  • Refunds

No refunds are permitted for confirmed orders/deposits. If a date change is required please request this no later than 14 days prior to the original collection date acceptance of a revised date will be dependent on availability.

  • Can I choose a different size or flavour of an existing design on the website?

Yes of course, we list only the standard size and sponge flavour to keep things simple, if you want a different flavour or size, get in touch, we will advise of the additional cost and you can add that to the basket when checking out.

  • Do you make gluten and dairy free cakes

Yes we do – although there is a small surcharge. As not only do the ingredients differ from our standard cake types/flavours but most importantly the procedures adopted in ensuring no cross contamination are different too. Get in touch and we can advise you of the surcharge which your cake will be subject to – you can then add this to basket at checkout.

  • Wedding cakes

Although we do cater for weddings, we only offer a very limited “no frills” service, essentially no in person consultation and no free samples/tastings are available that means you must have a really good idea of the type of design you are looking for. As all of my cakes are baked in house that means flavour options and dietary requirements can be catered for. Lower overheads incurred due to my limited service mean I can pass on those savings to you. With a comprehensive portfolio available encompassing many years of wedding and novelty cake creations you are still guaranteed the same level of outstanding service and quality from Cake Affair.
